Clue: The Musical

The last show I worked on was Clue: The Musical where I was the Co-Lighting Designer alongside absolutely wonderful. I originally started working on this production as the Assistant Lighting Designer but due to me having solutions for problems and taking over by the end of the process I became a Co-Designer. I got the opportunity to become a true Lighting Designer outside of the "High School Theater Experience" and I enjoyed every minute of it. I even had a Lighting Programmer/Board Operator to help out along the way which I told what to program for the looks Matt and I thought of. However, there was a couple times I had to get my hands dirty as well.

Clue: The Musical is a very unique show because it has 216 different endings, since it's a show about the board game "Clue". So, you may be wondering "How do you make cues for a production that changes every time?" Well, I had a stroke of genius to ensure we are prepared for each possibility. Like the game of Clue, there are six possible suspects for who committed the act of murder being: Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Ms. Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, and Professor Plum. Each being assigned the color of their name in the game and the in the musical. So, at the end of the show, it's revealed who killed Mr. Boddy, and with it being different every time I came up with a Magic Sheet that will lock onto the suspect when clicked by the operator which would change the LED Lights change to the color assigned to the killer. This show was very enjoyable to work on because of things like this where it would need thoughts from outside the box that make the show enjoyable for the actors and more importantly the audience.
